Beyond the Ticket: Creative Ways to Boost Revenue for your Venues, Events and Attractions with Ticketsauce

Ticketsauce isn't just a ticketing platform, it’s a revenue engine. Our flexible tools empower event pros, venues, festivals and attractions to unlock entirely new revenue streams beyond standard ticket sales. Whether you're running a concert, haunt, food festival, or immersive experience, here are creative, proven, and profitable ways to drive more revenue through your online ticketing experience well before your attendees arrive on-site.

Fast Pass & VIP Entry: Turn Time Into Money

People will pay to skip the line, guaranteed. With our custom ticket type settings, you can easily create and sell “Fast Pass,” “Express Entry,” or “VIP Line” tickets for a premium price. It's an easy upsell and one of the most underutilized ways to increase your average order value.

💡 Pro tip: Limit the quantities of these tickets to create scarcity and urgency.

Ticket Bundles: The “Ticket +” Strategy

Give your tickets more value with bundled experiences and add ons. You can create:

  • GA + First Drink Free
  • GA + Promo Item from a Sponsor
  • VIP + Exclusive Lounge Access
  • Ticket + Meet & Greet
  • GA + Tasting Tokens

Not only do bundles add perceived value—they also drive more presales and increase commitment to attend.

💡 Pro tip: Including an add on from sponsors is a great way to give your sponsors unique exposure, branding and a way to get their product or promo item in customer’s hands

Line-Item Fees: Capture More Revenue Per Ticket

With Ticketsauce, you're in full control of your fee structure. Our system gives you the ability to add any custom fees you’d like to boost your revenue, think: venue fees, artist support fees, facility improvements, sustainability surcharges, or anything else that fits your business and the event.

✅ All fees are broken out clearly, reducing confusion while driving more revenue directly to you, not a third-party or middleman.

Merchandise Sales: Sell More Than Just Tickets

Ticketsauce has specific and flexible functionality to pre-sell any kind of merchandise through the platform. Merch item types make it easy to sell:

  • Shirts, hats, posters, mugs, tote bags
  • Add-on collectibles (limited edition items)
  • Pre-order items for on-site pickup or shipping

Use modifiers for sizes, colors, and styles to give fans a chance to buy items before the doors open.

💡 Pro tip: Add a “Merch Bundle” to VIP or Fast Pass tiers to increase both ticket and merch sales and use the questionnaire feature to collect info needed to fulfill the merch on site.

Parking Passes: Monetize the Lot

If you’ve got parking, you’ve got another revenue stream. Sell valet parking, general parking, VIP spaces, or any kind of reserved parking space in advance. With our timed-entry support, you can even stagger arrival windows to reduce congestion and significantly enhance traffic flows on site at your venue/event.

Sponsor Placement: Turn Eyeballs into Ad Revenue

Sell digital real estate to sponsors across the online ticketing and check in experience. Our out of the box sponsor features allow you to showcase your sponsors in key places where your visitors and buyers are interacting with your event online:

  • Event pages
  • Ticket types (Utilizing add ons, unique experiences, etc.)
  • Checkout flow
  • Confirmation pages
  • Confirmation emails
  • Event notification emails and text messages
  • Mobile tickets with clickable banners

💡Pro tip: Include clickable links and custom messaging to turn brand exposure into cash before your event even starts.

Dynamic Pricing: Automate Smart Revenue Growth

Take the guesswork out of your price increases. With our dynamic price control and cascading price tiers, ticket prices automatically rise based on a number of custom settings:

  • Inventory thresholds
  • Dates leading up to the event
  • Demand velocity

💡Pro tip: With our new cascading price tiers, you can set your pricing rules on a single ticket type rather than needing to create multiple ticket types with different prices.

Cart Recovery: Don’t Let Sales Slip Away

Ticketsauce has built in functionality that automatically captures buyer emails from abandoned carts, allowing you to retarget potential buyers who exited checkout early. This gives you a second chance to close the sale with a nudge, promo, or reminder.

Gift Cards: Bank Revenue for Future Events

Selling gift cards is a unique feature that most ticketing companies simply don’t have. Gift Cards are a great way to offer your loyal fans and their friends the option to give the gift of your awesome experiences, plus great benefits for you:

  • You earn revenue upfront
  • Buyers give the gift of future experiences growing your customer base
  • Recipients explore your full calendar and become new customers

💡Selling gift cards is perfect for holidays, birthdays, and brand loyalty. Sneak in a section in your newsletters offering gift cards to your customers and build awareness.

Bonus Ideas to Try

From industry trends and client ingenuity, here are a few additional tactics used by savvy event pros:

  • Early Access Add-On: Sell a separate ticket or add-on for early entry (30 minutes before GA).
  • Exclusive Pre-Sale Access Passes: Charge for early access to future ticket drops.
  • Upsell Activities & Experiences: Add “Escape Room at Event,” “VIP Photo Booth,” “Wine Tasting Flight,” etc. as checkout add-ons.
  • Sell Raffles & Fundraiser Entries: Great for nonprofits or hybrid cause-based events.
  • Timed Entry Tiers: Charge less for slower entry times or early birds, more for peak times.

Recap of the Marketing Webinar with Bauer Entertainment Marketing (BEM) On Thursday, July 25th, Ticketsauce hosted a marketing webinar with Bauer Entertainment Marketing (BEM), a top marketing agency. For over 10 years, BEM has been a leader in event and venue marketing. The Founder and President joined us to discuss topics such as: What opportunities exist to help make the latter half of 2024 even stronger? How can we collectively get smarter about selling more tickets? What are the latest event marketing trends, tactics, and tools? What are the most recent and common event marketing pitfalls we should all avoid? What are useful marketing tools, especially AI, that you're using? Here are our key takeaways: Email Marketing: "RFM" (Recency, Frequency, Monetization) are key characteristics of your customers and subscribers that you should craft your marketing messages and timing around. Your emails should be customized based on each of these so you're sending a different message to a subscriber who has more recently opened or clicked on your emails, someone who opens or engages more frequently, and those who have spent more (or less) money with you. Targeting your messages around RFM can improve your campaign's effectiveness and relevance to the person receiving it. Contest Marketing: Contest marketing can be a very useful tool during the lulls of your on-sale period to boost engagement around your event. It can be a useful way to push people to take action in between your initial on-sale and the final few days leading up to the event. Use of Video: Video is KING in all mediums of marketing. Try to keep your videos to 15 seconds or less to maximize your message in the brief time you have people's attention. People are Buying Later: There's been a shift with the majority of people buying their tickets later in the final few days leading up to an event. This can make it challenging for marketers to effectively time their marketing efforts and campaigns to meet the customer when they're ready to buy. Do your best to focus on top-of-funnel marketing in the second third of your on-sale period and shift to bottom-of-funnel and conversion-related marketing in the final third. These were the handful of things that stuck out the most to us, but there were many more tips, insights, and creative strategies discussed. You'll have to watch for yourself and see what may inspire you. Also, see a summarized transcript below the video.
