TicketSauce Launches Advanced E-ticketing Security Feature with Photo Upload Capability

Electronic Photo Ticketing Provides Additional Layer of Security for Events

San Diego, CA - BUSINESS WIRE – May 22, 2018 – TicketSauce, a private label event management software company that focuses on growing revenue and data for media organizations, associations and event organizers, today announced an advanced security feature for its E-ticketing solutions incorporating a custom photo upload capability.

Security has always been an important initiative for events worldwide. By enabling event organizers to add additional layers of security to their ticketing processes, TicketSauce helps provide a level of confidence and safety among staff, attendees and the general public. The ability to upload a facial photo on all tickets and match the photo with the names on each ticket raises the bar in terms of secure ticketing decreasing fraudulent activity and keeps events safer.

“This is just another step in our efforts to provide the most robust and secure level of ticketing to all our customers and their events,” said Travis Fisher, CEO of TicketSauce. “As one of the first E-ticketing companies to enable customized photo ticketing, we are raising the bar for manual photo/name checks upon entry and look forward to opening the gates for the next phase of E-ticketing security with facial recognition software in the future.”

Not only does the photo ticketing provide a next-level security layer, it can also provide an easy means for ticket filtering for VIP only events or entries, exclusive benefits, quicker event access, and photo-only ticketing entry lines, to name a few.

Ticket security is a primary concern for everyone – those organizing the event and those attending. With advances in technology and digital imaging, it has become easier and easier to produce duplicate event tickets. TicketSauce has been diligent in taking this into consideration with a host of security measures to divert and prevent potential ticket fraud. “This next layer of photo ticketing helps our customers stay ahead of the trend and be a front runner for safer event consideration,” continued Fisher.

“We are always looking to reduce fraud at our events while providing an increased level of security for our attendees as well as our organizers and are excited to continue our work with TicketSauce,” stated John Kane, Director of CitySpin Ticketing and Events.

$10m Everest race stunt good for NSW and Victorian racing

    About TicketSauce.

Golden Slipper winner She Will Reign is favourite for The Everest $10 million race. bradleyphotos.com.au

Peter V'Landys can't help himself when it comes to promoting this Saturday's The Everest, the $10 million horse race that is the richest of its kind in the world.

The voluble Racing NSW chief executive has not minded having a dig at his counterparts across the border in Victoria, given The Everest is taking place in the heart of the spring racing carnival that is the southern state's biggest time of year.

He has billed it as "the most exclusive thoroughbred racing event held in the southern hemisphere" and has even paid for advertisements in national newspapers that have the lines "watch the world's richest race ... (hint is not in Victoria)" in case anyone had any doubts about his motives.

While there continues to be absolutely no love lost between racing bosses in Victoria and NSW – don't go waiting for peace to break out any time soon and the states come together for the common good of the sport – behind the words are two organisations putting on big races this weekend that have more in common than most think.

"I think competition is good for everyone": Racing NSW boss Peter V'landys.

    Selling the slots

The Everest is the brainchild of V'Landys and features 12 horses running for individuals or companies that have purchased the "slots" for $600,000 each race for the next three years. Owners include Chinese billionaire Yuesheng Zhang, racing training businesses such as Coolmore and Aquis Farm, Tabcorp and The Star Entertainment Group.

Each are either running horses they own or have struck deals with notable horses to use their slots. Yuesheng Zhang, for example, has agreement with Golden Slipper winner She Will Reign's 15 owners for it to race in his name. The horses will carry their advertising and The Star has invited high rollers from Asia to Sydney for the race.

"There has been plenty of publicity and it has people talking about racing," says V'Landys. "And I think competition is good for everyone. You have to try things. You have to be innovative."

Therein lies the key point. Yes, the race is expensive to put on, and yes, there are doubts about the quality of the field and whether Royal Randwick will be full of spectators on Saturday.

    Recapturing the glory days

But in a marketplace cluttered with sports, having racing being the focus of wider attention will be welcomed by an industry that has plenty who bet on it but is struggling to recapture its glory days when it was embraced by the wider public.

A common thought though has been that running of The Everest will be to the general detriment of the $2 million Caulfield Guineas at the racecourse of the same name, which is administered by the Melbourne Racing Club. The Guineas is a classic race considered to be one of the best of the spring carnival, which will focus on Caulfield this Saturday and the following weekend for the Caulfield Cup.

The reality though is that The Everest could also be counted as a positive – save for jockeys who have to choose between appearing in Sydney or Melbourne – for the MRC, which is also trying its best to be innovative.

"We think the day will be good for us too," says MRC chief executive Josh Blanksby. "You'll have people at Randwick watching our races on the television between theirs and betting on them, and vice versa. So it is a positive for both."

Racing as a core business is a struggle, given dwindling crowds in particular, so in recent years the MRC has attempted to diversify its revenue streams. The MRC's latest annual report shows this. It made a net surplus of $980,000 in 2016 that was helped by a $2.6 million share of profits from associates or joint ventures.

    Diversifying the racing business

It is getting revenue from the sale of apartments adjacent to the racecourse and owns 13 licensed pubs and venues around Melbourne via its Pegasus Leisure subsidiary (two are about to be sold). It even owns a bakery business Gontran Cherrie. "We serve a lot of bread and its biggest wholesale customer is our racecourses," says Blanksby.

The MRC also has media production investments and last year paid $667,000 for an 8 per cent stake in San Diego start-up Ticketsauce.com, which provides white label ticketing sales and event management services.

It is an unusual investment, but Blanksby insists it has allowed the MRC to save money compared to previous agreements with established ticketing companies and means it can keep its own ticketing and customer data.

"It means we can get to know our members better and tailor our offerings to them better. We've worked hard on increasing membership, which has gone from about 10,000 four years ago to more than 15,000 now."

That also extends to owning and operating events such as the outdoor Gourmet Cinema in March, The Peninsula Picnic and the Splashland inflatable water park.

All of this hopefully means the MRC will survive for many years to come. All that is needed now is to have more people interested in racing. Events like The Everest should help.

Five Questions for a San Diego Startup: TicketSauce

Media and tourism companies are increasingly turning to live events for promotion and to attract new audiences. But event management is hard work, and risk of error grows when thousands of people are involved. TicketSauce, a two-year-old San Diego startup, has developed event-management software that is turning heads at numerous companies. Times of San Diego spoke with Founder and President Travis Fisher about the company’s strategy.

    Why did you start TicketSauce?

We started TicketSauce to provide opportunities for media companies, event organizers and associations to generate new transaction-based revenue along with collecting important audience data. For example, with the disruption that has occurred in the media landscape, it is crucial to create new revenue opportunities to sustain their business.

Why is event management such a pain point for businesses?

Event organizers tend to wear a bunch of different hats. Providing them a software solution that is simple for them as well as provides their attendees a quick and easy way to purchase tickets is critical. Certain large event software providers make it cumbersome for both the event organizers and attendees. Our goal is to provide them a simple software solution that has robust features to manage their events very effectively.

Who are some of your clients and what has been their response?

Some of our clients include the San Diego Tourism Authority, San Diego Union-Tribune, USA Today and Best Coast Beer Festival to name a few. These clients have been very happy because it gives them the opportunity to provide a new service to their members and advertisers. Not only can they promote advertising services for event organizers but they can provide a total event-software solution. At the end of the day, we provide our customers the ability to generate new revenue, under their brand, and provide audience data to them. Companies like Ticketmaster or Eventbrite do not provide these opportunities.

TicketSauce started with media. What other markets are you targeting?

Our focus was initially around media organizations but we have now expanded into other industries such as conventions, tourism, chambers of Commerce and event venues like amphitheaters and concert halls. In addition, we have also expanded into Australia where we will be managing and handling the ticketing services for a large horse racing track.

Your own background is in advertising. Do you see events as competition for traditional marketing approaches?

We are seeing more dollars being allocated for events from organizations. The importance of talking with your audience and providing great live experiences is a critical path to create customer loyalty. As advertising continues to become extremely fragmented, events are growing and becoming a critical path of engagement.
